Dr. Safiyah Muhammad receives 2025 Bettye Washington Greene Award for outstanding scientists

This award recognizes a Black scientist, residing in Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Isabella, or Gratiot County, who has demonstrated outstanding contributions in their technical field in the past three years.  This award is in honor of Dr. Bettye Washington Greene, the first Black female PhD Chemist to work at the Dow Chemical Company.

Dr. Siaka Yusuf named the inaugural recipient of the Bettye Washington Greene award for outstanding scientists

This award was established in 2023, through a joint partnership between the Midland, Michigan NOBCChE and ACS chapters to recognize a black scientist who has demonstrated outstanding contributions in their technical field in the last three years. This award is in honor of Dr. Bettye Washington Greene, the first Black female PhD Chemist to work at the Dow Chemical Company.

Dr Angelar Muthike receives Tyrone Mitchell Mentor-on-the-Map Award

This award honors an individual who played a significant role in mentoring the next generation of scientists of color and encouraging students to pursue technical and scientific careers

Midland NOBCChE receives Best K-12 Outreach Award at 2024 National Conference

This award is given by the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) to recognize a chapter's outreach efforts.
